Pink eye, ear infections, & coughs, oh my!

What a weekend it has been at our house! My poor little Kallon has been so sick. Friday night he was acting a little more crabby than usual but I didn't think anything of it except for lack of sleep. He is not wanting to sleep at night and it driving us CRAZY! We are all a little sleep deprived lately. Kate is sleeping better than Kallon these days. Saturday morning we had to get up early because Cory and I both had tennis matches at 9 am. Kallon was so sensitive, I was told when cousin Bentli lightly touched him he had a full on crying fit that lasted a few mintues. These two can be competitive and can get a little sensitive about toys and things but this is beyond ridiculous. We finally got home around 12pm and Kallon goes directly to the couch and lays down and falls asleep for an hour. This never happens I am always coming up with new ways of bribing him to stay in his room for nap time, so you understand my shock when he voluntarily took a nap. That evening we noticed that his right eye was very goopy and Cory thought it might be pink eye, so I called the doc and was told to wipe it clean with warm water. We continued cleaning his eye all afternoon and despite our efforts he developed a little fever too. To add to this wonderful Saturday we were already having we had a head lice scare! We spent that evening washing everything!!! Bed sheets, clothes, blankets, stuffed animals, furniture, carpets, bodies, hair etc..... what a night! So now that all your heads are itching don't worry I think we killed anything that Kallon might have brought home, cross your fingers. Cory and I finally made it to bed around 1pm and these days that is very late for us ol' farts. Sunday morning Kallon woke up with both eyes very swollen and totally gooped shut, ugh! The infection had spread to his left eye, and on top of that his fever had risen to 102.8. I called the doctor again and said " look doc, he has got conjunctivitis and wiping his eyes with warm water ain't gonna cut it." Doctors sometimes, I swear! So we finally got a prescription for his eyes around 10pm and an appointment for this morning. Yesterday was a very, very, very long day. Cory and I used all our energy just keeping Kallon away from Kate, he loves to look right at her every time he coughs and rub his eyes and then hold Kate's hand. If she doesn't end up with this crap I will be very surprised. When we finally got both kids in bed at about 10:30 I was glad that we could finally wind down...yeah freakin right! Kallon was up about every two hours crying and upset, and I feel bad for him but a person can only take so much. Cory and I took turns all night comforting him and putting him back to bed. To make the situation worse, which is my own fault, Kate and Kallon now share a room so every time Kallon woke up screaming Kate woke up to join the party. So Kate ate pretty much all night long. At about 3 am this morning I hear Kallon yell "mommy I want you, mommy please." So I get up and I hear SMACK and Kallon's faint cry growing louder and louder by the second. As I walk into his room wondering what in the world happened I found Kallon sitting on the floor facing his dresser rubbing his head. I asked him what happened and he said between sobs that he ran into something. I was trying so hard to hold in my laughter when I realized what had happened. This situation is normally not so funny but when I looked down at his face both his eyes were completely gooped and crusted over, he couldn't have opened them for the life of him. He was trying to get out of bed and ran into the dresser because he couldn't see a thing. I did feel really bad but I keep running the scene over and over in my head and can't help but laugh...poor Kallon. We were up early today and made it to the doctors office by 9:30. Kallon was diagnosed with bilateral Conjunctivitis, bilateral ear infections, productive cough, and all the symptoms that come with having a fever....poor poor Kallon. I feel so bad for him, but its funny how kids just bounce back. Its amazing how a little medicine will work wonders. Medicine has such a placebo affect on Kallon its great. I can give him water from the syringe and tell him its medicine and he instantly feels better. But he is so drugged up right now so hopefully by tonight he really will feel better and get a good nights sleep for all our sakes, our sanity is depending on it!

Kate's Photo Shoot

Here are the pictures of Kate I have been telling everyone I would post. It has been about a month and a half later and I am finally getting around to it. Isn't she so cute! I had to sneak in a few of Kallon too. Thanks to Jennifer for taking these cute pictures.
