We made it!

After three LONG days of driving and just in time for a pretty serious hurricane approaching we have arrived in our new home of San Antonio Texas! We got here Monday night and unloaded with the help of Jared, Jennie and their friends (thanks you guys). My mom and I have been unpacking ever since and I think we've done it except for three boxes in Cory and I's room that I really don't want to open. So other than picture and curtain hanging I think its done-hallelujah. I actually really like our apartment. I was so nervous to see it but Jennie approved so I knew it couldn't be that bad. Its just a little scary moving into a place you've never seen before. It's way bigger than Mckinley manor and we have two bathrooms and washer/dryer hook-ups and a dishwasher!!! Its pretty sad when you get all worked up over having your own dishwasher!:) Anyways we are in a gated apartment complex which is nice. We are on the third floor and have a great view out of our balcony. I am very happy with it so far and now that it looks like an apartment instead of a storage unit I think we will really enjoy it. As far as San Antonio I don't know yet. My mom and I ventured out Tuesday afternoon and I couldn't find what we were looking for so I called Cory on the verge of tears asking him how to get back to the apartment. I knew that I could have just turned around and went back the way we came but I thought I knew the city pretty well becasue or our one week vacation here last summer-dumb assumption. I do not know where anything is and its very frustrating. My mom and I don't even leave the apartment unless Cory is with us to drive or tell me where to go. Poor Jennie has gotten quite a few phone calls from Cory asking her to look up directions for us. I think once I drive around I will figure it out-I hope. The city is a lot bigger than good 'ol Pocatello Id. The other reason I don't want to leave the house is the humidity! Its awful, I feel like I can't breathe when I step outside and the worst part is that is doesn't cool off at night-not at all!!! That is going to take some getting used to. Kallon is doing well but I think he knows that something is different. He is sooo cuddley since we've been here and that is not Kallon at all. He never wants to sit still but there has been no major meltdowns. He also did so well on the way down. I think we watched Cars about 6 times in three days in the car. He only cried 10 minutes the entire trip and it was when we were just pulling into San Antonio-he is such a trooper! Cory has an interview tomorrow so cross your fingers that he gets it. Its a little scary not having any money coming in. We are doing well but we miss home. We stopped at Carlsbad Caverns on the way down so I am posting some pictures of that. If you ever get a chance to go I would recommend it!

I am glad you made it safe and sound! You will totally get the hang of the city in no time! I hear San Antonio is a fun place...my grandma was going to take me there to go to the 6 flags one time...but we never did...so ever since that is all I can remember-that I need to go to the 6 flags in San Antonio. I hear there is some great history there as well. Oh oh oh...you are so close to New Braunfels..where the water park "der Schlitterbahn" is...one of the top rated water parks ever...you should definitely go there..if you like that kind of thing...I LOVE water parks!

We are 11 1/2 hours to your northeast...so I understand the humidity...but I don't think it is quite so bad my way...but when it is hot outside we still have to stay in all day...so we are sooooo anxious for winter to get here! My only worry is that is won't last long enough or cool down low enough!

I have family in Houston so we are trying to plan to get over there...maybe we when we do we can jot over to your place and go to 6 flags!!

Hope all goes well and you get settled in and find all the fun things to do that a bigger city has to offer! I don't love living in big cities...but I sure love all the stuff there is to do to entertain Carter and me!

I will stop typing now! :)

I am so glad to hear you made it safe and sound. I just asked my mom yesterday if she had heard anything about your family. At least you have Jared and Jennie there with you. As scary as change is, it is good too. Keep in touch. Love to hear from you.

What a long trip! I'm glad it went well and that Kallon was so good! I think you're a trooper for walking 75 stories pregnant! Good luck in TX! I wish you well there.

Glad you guys like it down there! I can sympathize with you on long drives and the humidity, but I can feel fall coming in the air in Kansas and it gets me so excited...you probably don't really get fall in San Antonio, huh.

Glad you guys made it and I'm glad your apartmemt is nice. It's got to be scary to venture out to the unknown like that! Tell Cory good luck. Where was he interviewing? I hope the air dries up a little for you. Just think of all the money you can save on moisturizers, right? Good luck!

That's wonderful that your trip down was so smooth! And two bathrooms!! And trust me, I was SO giddy when we put in a dishwasher in our house, I think I told everyone I met, "Hi, I'm Melinda, we just put a dishwaser in at my house!" ahaha, such a dork I am. You know, I felt the SAME way about Pocatello as you feel now about San Antonio, and you are totally right, once you get out and drive around a bit, you will figure it out, but the trick for me is that I had to be the one driving or I wouldn't remember it. Good luck to you! How did the interview go?

Wow! You guys made it! I don't know if I could handle so much driving, packing, and unpacking...ect. with Andrew AND being pregnant! You guys are amazing. I would like to know where you guys are living exactly and what ward you are in. Maybe I know that area. I feel for you with the humidity, that is one thing I don't miss-except my skin was always soft. Good luck with getting to know that area! Hope you love it!
