We're Back!
What a crazy/emotional/whirlwind of a summer and its not over yet! It all started June 4th when we drove to Temple to close on our first home. We left early in the morning to make it by 9:00 am to sign the closing papers. At about 8:55 am we received a phone call from the title company saying we couldn't close. Got another call from the loan company telling us what the problem was and why we couldn't close that day. To make a very long story short we ended getting the problem fixed while driving back to San Antonio only to turn around the next morning to drive back to Temple to sign the papers and close. Yay! About two weeks before this happened Cory went to get his med school physical and we found out that he might have a shunt(a hole) in his heart...not good. He had a few tests done and we waited and waited to hear the results but none of the doctors ever got back to us, so frustrating especially when it could be something so serious. In my mind one thing led to another, I tend to get a little dramatic when things happen. I thought oh no, Cory has waited four years to get into school and now he won't be able to start because of this heart problem, and he will have to have surgery that we can't afford, and we just bought a house we won't be able to pay for because he won't be going to school and we won't get loans and he won't be able to work and I will have to work and put the kids in daycare and on and on. I was really, really emotional those few weeks, my poor family thought I had lost it. Finally one of the doctors got back to us and told Cory he need to see a Cardiologist, I was a little relieved but not much because we still had no answers. About a week later we went to his appointment and the doctor said as far as he could tell there was nothing wrong but just to be sure he wanted to schedule a T.E.E(transesophoegeal echo) basically an ultrasound of his heart with a tube down his throat. The only time they could do it was about a week later so we scheduled it. After the appointment we drove to the apartment loaded up the car and drove to Temple to start on the renovations in the house. In six days we ripped up tile to find vinyl underneath so we had to tear that up, then laid new tile in the kitchen, entry and laundry room. We also painted, put in new baseboard and added a chair rail and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. It was insane but we got everything done thanks to our brother-in-law Luke. If he hadn't come down Cory and I would probably still be in the kitchen trying to figure out how to lay the stupid tile! haha Or I would be in the corner crying while we swore at each other, either way I am sure it would not be finished if it had just been the two of us. The next morning after we got back to San Antonio we headed to Cory's appointment at 6 am. We got him checked in and changed and they came and rolled him away. About an hour later the doctor came and and told me that everything was fine and that there is nothing wrong with his heart!!!!! I hadn't heard such good news in a long time. Instantly all my stress was gone, and all the emotion I had been trying to keep inside for so long came pouring out. That poor doctor probably had no idea what to say so he just said thank you and left. haha I went to see Cory and he was pretty out of it because he had to be sedated, but I told him the results anyway. I expected him to be excited even in his lethargic state but instead he was angry! He was so mad that nothing was wrong and he was mean. I have never in the twelve years that I have been with Cory seen him that mean. He was giving me dirty looks and telling the nurse the procedure was done wrong. I was laughing so hard. For about the next hour or so he kept asking "there is nothing wrong? I'm fine?" and was mad about it. We made it home later that day took it easy, finished packing and the next day loaded up the uhaul and moved to our new house. We were in our house for about a six days in which we got most of the unpacking and setting up done. A week after we moved in we loaded up the car again and made the lllloonnnnnggggg twenty-five hour drive to Idaho. We drove it straight all day and all night and the kids did awesome but coming home is a different story. We spent three and half weeks in Idaho with friends and family. We went out to eat, watched movies, played outside, swam, went boating, shopped, ate some more, played tennis and a little golf. It was so nice to not have to worry about renovating, or moving or health problems. It was a much needed get a way but I am glad that we are back in our own brand new house. As of today Cory has two days of medical school under his belt and so far so good. We have already met some classmates and their wives and they all seen so nice. We are all happy and healthy I think we will really like it here in Temple minus the humidity! :)

Can I just say WOW! What a lot of things going on - all at once. I would have melted and stressed so much too! I'm so glad everything is okay with Cory - whew! How exciting to be in your own home as well. Sounds like a lot of work. And I'll never complain (okay, that's probably not true, I'm sure I still will eventually) about our 6 hour drive to see family again. I can't believe you braved it 25 hrs. with kids the same age as ours! My hat goes off to you. So good to hear the update. Take care!
Umm, I feel horrible that I had no idea how much you were stressing about Cory's situation. Here I was having you watch Kyle while all of this was going on! I'm so sorry! You sure do hide stress well! I can't wait to see your home. We miss you guys! Where are pictures? I'm sure Kate looks like a teenager now.
This all sounds crazy... but your kids are beautiful!!!! I hope it all is getting better!
Glad that everything is okay. That is so stressful though. Congrats on the white coat and the new house!!! Enjoy
