No Good, Awful, Terrible Eye Drops

With all the pink eye going around at our house the month of April we have had a lot of eye drops. Two drops in everyone's eyes 3 times a day. With a toddler and a baby this became quite the ordeal. Kate was pretty easy I would have to hold her head still, hold her eyes open and instill the drops, usually with little or no fussing. Kallon was a little more difficult. I had to lay him on the floor, straddle him and pin his arms at his sides with my legs. Then I held his head still in between my knees and literally had to PRY his eyes open while he screamed bloody murder the entire time EVERY time. "No I don't like this mom, no more drops, I done, stop please," are a few of the things I heard while trying to put the drops in his eyes. He finally go to the point when I mentioned the eye drops he stopped whatever he was doing and ran for his life to find a hiding spot. Despite his awesome hiding skills(laying on the floor in the closet holding very still) I still found him and continued the torture. Ugh! I am glad it's all over. Cory is the only lucky one of the bunch that did not become infected. Not very many of you probably know that I HATE eye drops. It is a very good thing that I don't have contact lenses. I don't have a weird thing about touching my eye, I can do that no problem and I love the way my eyes feel after eye drops I just absolutely hate the anticipation of waiting for that cold burning drop to hit my eyeball. It gives me the chills just thinking about it. I had to have Cory put my eye drops in for me because I can't do it. I close my eyes every time right before the dreaded drop of cold fluid can land in my eye. I know I am such a baby and Cory reminds me each time I call him to assist me in my own torture. He says I am just as bad or maybe even worse than Kallon is. I personally don't think it's that bad but then again I am a 26 year old that can't put in her own eye drops. Here is a little clip that reminds me a little of myself when it come the the terrible, awful, no good eye drops. It also makes me laugh out loud. Enjoy.

I agree. I like the freshness of eye drops but it usually takes several tries because I always blink in anticipation for that drop. Hate it. BTW: I love Friends and thoroughly enjoyed the clip.

He might be too little now but after he forgets the torture ;) and if you have to do eyedrops again (& you can do this for yourself too) just lay down maybe with pillow under neck so the head slants downward a touch, have them or you close the eyes--put drops in the tear duct corner area--open your eyes & you naturally start to blink a little and WA-LA...in the medicine goes. No anticipation-no holding open your lids!! Works brilliantly. A trick I didn't know until Michaella (had to torture the older 3)& everyone including Regan wants me put the drops in that way :)

LOVED the clip!
