Funny stories and scary moments

About a month ago we were on a family boating outing on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone had taken a turn on the water and decided that we were all starving-which is pretty normal in this family. We got out the chicken, fruit, goodies, and drinks and were all stuffing our faces while Kallon was on the back deck of the boat playing in the water. Kallon usually just likes to stand on the deck and kick his feet and splash in the small amount of water. It takes a lot of coaxing to get him to even sit down on the deck most of the time. I thought it was a great idea to let him play back there in the water while I ate my dinner in peace and conversation, which as most you mothers know that rarely happens! We are all eating in the boat enjoying our food when all the sudden we hear a big splash, then some choking and Kallon's death cry! Luke was the closet to Kallon and when he looked back he saw Kallon laying on his back in the water with his eyes as wide as they would go! (We now know for a fact that his life jacket works properly) So Luke reached in and pulled him up into the boat. We were all laughing trying to calm him down between his crying and telling us that he fell off the boat. After a few minutes he was fine and back in the water. What makes this story so funny is that a couple weeks ago Cory, Kallon, and I were driving home one night and Kallon tells us this story: I go boating, I play in da water, I fall off boat, Luke save my life! We were laughing so hard!!! Its so amazing what their little minds remember. So now we hear the story quite often of how uncle Luke saved little Kallon's life! Now papa Spicer tries to convince Kallon that Luke actually pushed him in. So the story goes back and forth from Luke saving Kallon's life to Luke pushing him in. We still laugh every time!

We kind of had a scary pregnancy moment on Saturday. We had been running errands during the morning and boating in the afternoon. We were getting the boat ready to leave the lake and I was pulling down the skies from the rack and I felt something pop in my left stomach. I didn't think much of it until the ride home, I just ached and I couldn't sit still and I was getting sick. About an hour later we get home and I just had to lay down because I felt so crappy. As I laid there for a while I started thinking I haven't felt the baby move all day! I know we were busy and on the boat so I probably wouldn't have but it started to really scare me. So I drank some water and laid on my left side for about 30 minutes and still nothing!!! Then I remembered the whole pop in my stomach thing and because I'm a hypochondriac I thought for sure I had torn the placenta away from the uterine wall and I was going to get pre-eclampsia! So Cory called the hospital because I'm sure he was sick of my complaining and he knows just about everyone (which is nice when we have a question or have to go in). The labor and delivery nurse told him that it would be good to get in there asap. We got Kallon in bed and took off to the hospital at 10pm. What really puts the icing on this cake is the night before I had a dream that I lost the baby and had to have c-section to deliver the stillborn baby. Not a good dream for a pregnant lady to have at five months pregnant! So we get to the hospital and go right up to L& D. The nurse hooks me up for a non-stress test and for what seemed like FOREVER but really was only about 10-15 seconds the nurse couldn't find the heart beat! I was just holding back the tears, it was the longest 10 seconds of my life. There was no way I had made it through the worst part of pregnancy to go through something like this. Finally the nurse finally found the heartbeat and made me sit there with the monitor for about 25 minutes. Dr. Dyer poked his head and said that baby looked great and I could go home. Dr Dyer made a little comment saying its funny that sometimes the babies will play with the umbilical cord and that makes it hard to find the heartbeat-how about completely not funny!!! Anyways everything is great, no torn placenta, and a good strong heart beat! Like I said sometimes I can just be a little bit of a hypochondriac. But its better to be safe than sorry.

What a cute story about Kallon. He talks so well. Although, what a scary story about your pregnancy. It never hurts to get things checked out. Our trouble with Vanna started out with something I began to think I was makeing a big deal of when maybe it was really nothing - but it was so you're not silly for going in - you're safe. Glad all is well!

Scary stories for sure. I'm a hypochondriac too though. I think we went in two times with Isie cause she wasn't moving. Better safe than sorry, right? Kallon is so cute. What a smart boy to remember all that and tell it in a story!

Amy! I am so releived that everything is okay. I freak out all the time and drive Jared nuts, during pregnancy and especially after the baby is born. Better safe than sorry! I still love that story of Kallon, cute, cute kid! Take care of yourself!
